The Champlain Rifles is a non-profit organization whose goals are to awaken and maintain interest in Vermont's, New York's and our Country's participation during the tragic period of history known as the Civil War.  We raise funds to be donated each year to historical preservation of battlefields, honoring soldier's sacrifices, and developing our organization to be better equipped for educating the public about the Civil War.  We pride ourselves on studying this time period and thus bring it to life at local living history encampments, school talks, lectures and major battle reenactments.  We are also community minded and march in patriotic parades and provide honors for Veterans of all wars.

The Champlain Rifles is a family oriented group and we enjoy involving everyone.  We encourage and and strive for high standards of historical accuracy, authenticity and most importantly safety.  We represent two Civil War regiments:  14th Vermont and 123rd NY Volunteer Infantry.  We organized in 1992.  Presently our group is made up of Infantry Officers, Soldiers, Civilian Ladies and a Chaplain.

We exist to bring Civil War history to life and do all we can to preserve the hallowed ground that our nation's sons fought on during this tragic time in our history.  Many of these battlefields are privately owned and are endangered of being swallowed up by land developers unless they are purchased and protected.  For several years we have partnered with The Civil War Preservation Trust and have proudly given at least 25% of our annual funds to a preservation project.

We are always looking for new recruits to join our ranks.  Please feel free to get in touch with anyone on our contact list for more information.  We look forward to hearing from you!
